Saturday only comes once a week but when it does FACE likes to dust down its underground basement which we call the Cellar and play host to those alternative bass vibes which cause havok on the floor !! With L.E.D lighting , function 1 sound system and 2 rundown chesterfields for those more sociable sit down experiences the Cellar is becoming quite a must .
This week we have Bigger Than Barry’s U.K resident ‘New Jack City’ coming to play who has been so kind to answer a few questions 
Q1. Is your DJ name based around the crack cocaine film staring Wesley Snipes or is it just the fact your first name is jack ??
i’ve always been a bit shit with DJ names, I used to be IAMJACK (which i thought was brilliant). Bobby Barnes then told me that i was 1 of 1,000,000 IAMJACK’s so one drunken night in leeds he started calling me new jack city… Bit gay but it kind of stuck. i think everyone secretly loves the film ‘New Jack City’ and i do consider myself a bit of a white wesley snipes…. Also, the name entertains people that think they’re really funny. I’ve had New Jack Shitty, Poo Whack Shitty and many others. Most of them have come from Skankboy (wanker).
2. You have played some huge gigs in your time Leeds , Sheff ,Birmingham ,Ibiza are there any gigs which have really stood out for you and why ??
I’ve had an amazing few years and it’s all due to Bigger Than Barry. I have a lot to thank them for even though Kieran does make me fetch his gammon dinners and that (he fucking loves gammon). The Mad Decent party was HUGE as was the Scream & Benga show last year but I hate to say it because i’m supposed to represent but this year the best show i’ve played was The Afterparty.
3. What was the first piece of music you ever bought your self ?
I remember going to Sainsburys with my mum and slipping the odd cassette in the trolley… I think the first time I used my own money to buy a tape though I got Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ and PJ & Duncan, whatever the fuck it was called. In terms of new age CD shizzle I remember buying Pure Garage 1 and Oxide and Neutrino’s album. I went to school in Aston and as a white boy I had to be a DJ ’cause every crew had a token white DJ. I remember walking through Aston Park with my mate James habsolutely vibezin to ‘I don’t Smoke’. I think this is when my love for garage began and then I used to save my pennies and go to ‘Punch Records’ every friday to buy some new vinyl.
4. Which artists you fully digging at the moment ??
I think the music scene is rapidly changing at the minute but my top producers are Brenmar, Mele, Jamie Grind, Lunice and obviously Roska. Also, Kieran McInerney made a tune and i’m really surprised it didn’t make it to the top 40, it was called something shart like ‘Around the World In 80 Beats’… pure garageband vibes.
5. You seem to do a lot of traveling round the world ,what’s been your fav place you visited ?
You are right, I have been lucky enough to do a bit of travelling and a couple of weeks ago I got to go to Borneo to see the Orangutan’s and it was unbelievable, even though one of them robbed my water. I fully recommend that people save up and do it rather than going Ayia Napa and Kos to get shit faced and shag 16 year old girls.

7. What shall people be expecting to hear when you play at FACE’s Cellar Room?
To be honest i’m a bit shit and i don’t plan as much as i maybe should. I say expect a bit of everything. House/2 step/electro/funky and maybe even some techno… I’m absolutely loving techno right now.

I’d like to say that you’re a bloody liar, it hasn’t been a pleasure speaking to me because i received these questions via facebook. Other than that I’d like to say that Tom Shorterz is pretty fit, I just wish he’d smile a bit more when he’s playing. It would make the experience a whole lot better. Also, I’m a bit worried about Kieran’s intake of gammon.
