FACE announces its first International Resident DJ… EDU IMBERNON (Noir music / Space, Ibiza)

by Scott Bleepz

We are ecstatic to announce our first international resident is none other than… Edu Imbernon, who will be making regular appearances at FACE throughout the year. Edu was definetly one of the highlights of last summer when he played his debut set for us back in August. The atmosphere was electric and the crowd was vibing all night long!

Edu is without doubt one of the most promising talented artists in electronic music right now.  At just 21 years of age the native Valenciano from Spain has torn up dancefloors all over the planet. We caught up with him recently to ask him about how he’s feeling right now and of things he has in the pipeline…

*********************************************************

What can people be expecting from your set at Face on the 5th?

First of all, thanks for the interview and happy new year to all. Well, my first set at Face was an amazing one, for sure one of the best gigs of the year. So people can expect lots of energy and nice music. Besides they will see the new traktor setup including the Ipad on it!

How does it feel that some of your heroes might now be playing your tracks?

Its an incredible thing, this makes me feel great and gives me wings to do great things in the future.

Other than electronic music is there any artists you are a big fan of?

Of course! I really like bands as THE XX, Bonobo, Hercules & Love Affair, Florence and the Machine…

You won 2 awards at the Spanish National Dance music awards, how important is it to you to win things like that?

Its a good thing, but its not the most important thing for me, my award is to be able to do what I like the most, and even see people enjoying what i have to say to them through music.

How did your Space Ibiza residency come about?

They were interested in my sound and as i love the club it was an easy match. I have lots of great summer memories clubbing there myself, so to play there was a dream that came true!

How do you think that’s helped you progress?

Ibiza is the most important place for electronic music in summer, with all the artist, promoters, club owners and crazy audience in one place. It is a very good place to give your best and get experienced in as a dj.

Is it hard keeping your feet on the ground and working hard when you’re still fairly young?

I dont feel Im that young in fact..! But thinking of it, yeah well i guess i am… Anyway i have lots of good friends giving me good advices and Im lucky to have a good team of manager/ booker/ graphic designer that all know how to keep it simple. I just enjoy life and my work, without thinking about it as anything that original.

What would you like people to say about your music?

Its always difficult to put a tag to an artists music. My music is in constant evolution as everything in our lives. I really like to think about that. Its enough if the people just enjoy my music, and feel something special when listening.

What can we be expecting from Eklektisch in the near future?

Eklektisch is my main project for this year, after an amazing 2010 with the Hit “Pleasurekraft – Tarantula” released as eklektisch vinyl 002 i have the opportunity to do great things on the label. 004 will be released in March, a very special original by myself, and superb remixes by Diynamic guy David August and Techno master Dosem, Im very happy this vinyl, but also 005 will be huge with Robert Babicz involved! Just stay tuned!
